Chicago Group Travel Itineraries

Progressive Ethnic Experience

Length of time: 5 hours

Start Time: Tour may begin anytime after 10 am

Level: Minimal walking; must be able to enter / exit bus multiple times during day

Cost: $95 per person. Tour is priced using your bus; we are able to secure quotes if you are in need of transportation too.

Tour Stops and Activities:

  • Immerse the bellies and minds of your guests in the ethnic history and cuisine of Chicago. During this tour we'll stop at three locations to feature three different ethnic groups. Think of it as a progressive meal where we'll feature ethnic stops for appetizers, entree and dessert.

  • During this tour we'll also enjoy a cultural experience in one of many ethnic neighborhoods which could include National Museum of Mexican Art in Pilsen, The Polish Museum of America, Ping Tom Memorial Park in Chinatown, or more.
  • Conclude with a shopping stop such as in Chinatown, or at Eataly, Chicago’s vibrant Italian marketplace. Your tour guide will highlight the location selected for your shopping stop, and then the group will have time at the location for continued shopping time on their own.
  • We would love to curate a tour route with your group, completely with 3 stops for food that adds up to a meal, a cultural stop, and shopping opportunities but also welcome your input. All along the way, your tour guide will provide comprehensive narration, highlighting culture and architectural hidden gems of Chicago for your attendees.

Churches & Chocolates

Length of time: 6 hours

Start Time: Tour may begin anytime after 9 am

Level: Minimal walking; must be able to enter / exit bus multiple times during day

Cost: $90 per person. Tour is priced using your bus; we are able to secure quotes if you are in need of transportation too.

Tour Stops and Activities:

  • Visit three churches for docent-led tours. We show off a diverse selection of churches during the tour. If desired, your tour can be customized to feature a specific religion, or a specific theme like stained-glass windows. Price includes donations to each church visited on behalf of group.
  • Enjoy a generously portioned, sit-down lunch.
  • Conclude by visiting a local chocolatier to learn more about their craft; receive in-store samples to enjoy along with take-home treats and shopping time.

Christmas Around Chicago Bakery Bus

Length of time: 6 hours with lunch

Start Time: Tour may begin anytime after 9 am

Level: Minimal walking; must be able to enter / exit bus multiple times during day and must be able to stand at locations

Cost: $95 per person. Tour is priced using your bus; we are able to secure quotes if you are in need of transportation too.

Tour Stops and Activities:

  • Visit 4 - 5 bakeries and shops during our extremely popular Christmas Around Chicago Bakery Bus! At each of the stops, your guests will receive treats, samples, and shopping time.
  • Enjoy a generously portioned, sit-down lunch.
  • In route to each location, your fully narrated tour includes the history of Christmas holiday traditions of the Polish, Germans, Italians, Irish, Mexicans and more.

Polonia Chicago

Length of time: 6 hours

Start Time: Tour may begin anytime after 9 am. Please note that we can only offer this tour on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays due to availability of The Polish Museum of America.

Level: Minimal walking; must be able to enter / exit bus multiple times during day and must be able to stand at locations

Cost: $95. Tour is priced using your bus; we are able to secure quotes if you are in need of transportation too.

Tour Stops and Activities:

  • You don’t have to travel overseas to visit the Old Country. Chicago boasts a thriving Polish community and we will celebrate all things Polish.
  • Our day will begin with a tour of a magnificent Polish church in the heart of Chicago’s Polish Village.
  • Next, we’ll visit The Polish Museum of America for a docent-led tour.
  • Afterwards, we’ll enjoy a sit-down Polish meal complete with all of the Polish favorites including pierogi, Polish sausage and red cabbage, along with time to shop along Milwaukee Avenue.
  • We’ll end our day with shopping at a Polish bakery so that we may bring home some tasty treats.

Remnants of the World's Fair

Length of time: 6 hours

Start Time: Tour may begin anytime after 9 am

Level: Moderate walking; must be able to enter / exit bus multiple times during day and must be able to stand at locations. In order to enjoy the full experience, a moderate level of walking is needed at two points within the tour. 

Cost: $85. Tour is priced using your bus; we are able to secure quotes if you are in need of transportation too

Tour Stops and Activities:

  • Learn about the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition and see some of the remnants of the World’s Fair. Tour guide will narrate day in route to a variety of locations, highlighting the long-lasting impact of the Fair. Tour guide will provide comprehensive narration throughout the tour, including commentary about Devil in the White City. We will also be on the hunt for artifacts left behind from the World’s Fair and placed in an iconic museum to see them up close as the fairgoers did.
  • During our time together, we’ll stop to enjoy some of the foods launched to fame from this historic event including the Chicago Vienna Sausage for lunch and a stop for a decadent brownie which was created for the Columbian Exposition World's Fair in 1893.

Neighborhood Walking Tours

Length of time: 3 – 3.5 hours

Start Time: Tour may begin anytime after 11 am

Level: Neighborhood walking tours do not utilize a bus. Attendees must walk approximately 1.5 miles. Although plenty of opportunities for breaks, guests should be prepared to be mobile and on their feet. 

Cost: Price ranges from $65 – $95, dependent on tour and drink option selected. Tour is a walking tour; group will be divided equally among multiple tour guides to make for a more intimate experience.

Multi-City and Multi-Day Trips

Our expertise extends beyond Chicago. We would love to create a multi-city or multi-day trip in the Midwest in partnership with our sister company, Milwaukee Food & City Tours and My Kind of Town Tours, or internationally on culinary vacations to places such as Cuba, Poland and Italy with our other sister company, Travel Deliciously. We’re happy to coordinate everything from arranging the best tour guides, most unique hotels and every delicious minute of your itinerary no matter where the adventure takes your group.

  • You will learn all about the history of those neighborhoods while filling up on delicious cuisine. Our walking tours are the perfect way to experience all the food and drink that Chicago has to offer.
  • Walking tour routes include:
    - Iconic Foods of Chicago - Buildings & Bites - great to pair with a visit to Skydeck Chicago - Gateway to the West Loop - Sweets & Treats of Chicago - Chinatown Lunch Adventure - Street Foods of Pilsen - great to pair with a visit to the National Museum of Mexican Art - Bloody Mary Brunch of Wrigleyville - The Second City Stand-Up
  • For groups of more than 16 guests, multiple tour guides may be utilized for the tour; all of your guests will experience the same tour locations, but in a slightly different order.
  • Additional activities can be added to each of these routes to make for a longer experience. For example, add-on a visit to the National Museum of Mexican Art before you enjoy lunch on our Tacos & Tequila tour.

We Want to Make it as Easy as Possible

OUR PROCESS:

  • We do not ask for a deposit or signed contract. Once you are ready to book the date, you just email us sales@chicagofoodplanet or call 312-932-0800
  • Let us know your desired date / time / route and then we’ll put the reservation in the books for you. As the date gets closer, you’ll want to let us know your tentative numbers so that we can alert the locations as we confirm our reservations with them. Then one week prior, we will need a final head count, list of any vegetarians or food allergies, and payment via credit card, ACH transfer, or check.
  • Our Group Travel offerings have pricing reflective of utilizing your bus and driver for the tour. If you need a bus, please ask and we’re happy to provide pricing to utilize our buses. We do have a 30 person minimum on our group tours; if you anticipate less than 30 guests, we’re happy to create a custom tour price for your group.
  • For all of our group travel tours, the items noted in the above itineraries (such as food, drinks and attraction admission costs), taxes, and gratuities at each restaurant are are included in the per person cost. We also require a $175 tour guide gratuity which will be included on your invoice once a final head count is provided at least 5 days prior to event date.
