Easter’s one of those holidays known as a moveable feast: a holy day whose date isn’t fixed to a particular day of the year. (Actually, other moveable feasts’ dates actually change with the date of Easter.)

Here at Chicago Food Planet, every tour is a moveable feast in itself — in the sense that we travel as we fill our stomachs, but also in the sense that Hemingway meant it: that the memory of a tour stays with our participants long after it’s over.

But we digress. Easter is the original moveable feast, and Chicago restaurants are celebrating the holiday accordingly: with rampant feasting!

Here are five Chicago spots where you can feast over Easter weekend, whether you’re looking for a secular supper or a post-church Easter brunch.

Dine on North Halsted for Easter

Minibar

Head to Boystown for the “RETOX Resurrection Party,” a booze-forward celebration of the Easter holiday. (Best to fill up on brunch food first, then hit this raucous party — just our suggestion.)

Kit Kat Lounge & Supper Club

Grab your pals for a four-course brunch and your choice of a mimosa, bloody mary or sangria package. Plus, y’know, a $100 prize for the best Easter bonnet. So if you’re a hat person, you’ll have that going for you.

Home Bistro

If deep-fried brioche French toast or “steak” and eggs with pork shoulder, charred tomatillos, sunnyside-up eggs and salsa rojo are up your alley, this Lakeview spot has the foodie-friendly Easter brunch for you.

Spend Easter downtown

Chicago Q

Aside from all the restaurant’s delectable brunch options, the Easter extras at this Gold Coast spot make it a virtual can’t-miss: Face painting. An Easter egg hunt. A visit from the Big Bunny himself. And Chef Lee Ann Whippen is doing housemade pink Peeps.

Take the kids for Easter in Lincoln Square

Fork

Bring your entire family for a North Side brunch buffet of epic proportions, including a waffle bar and omelets made to order. Enjoy a stroll to Giddings Plaza afterward — weather permitting — and let the kiddos run wild with the rest of the neighborhood.
